What are your Physical Education Clothes?
A physical education uniform refers to clothing that allows movement freely and
safely. A complete change from school clothes is required! This is a courtesy to
your parents who buy your school clothes, your teachers and fellow
classmate who sit beside you in your next class and to yourself! When wearing
comfortable physical education clothes, you can perform better!!
Is There A Required Physical Education
Gym shorts should be pull-on with an elastic waistband, no pockets, no belt
loops, no zippers and no cut-offs. T-shirts should be short-sleeved, plain or
with an appropriate logo. All students are to wear white athletic socks and
sneakers can be of any color that are in good repair Sneakers must be tied at
all times. During the winter swimming units, a towel and a bathing suit is
required.
Will Your Belongings Be Safe During Class?
Your teachers try very to help you...and you can help out also.
A lock will be issued to you by your physical education teacher. Please, lock up your clothes and books during class.
Try not to bring large sums money or good jewelry to school. Save your best school clothes for days you do not have physical education.
If have valuables give them to your teacher when you come into the locker room before you change so these items can be locked up in the physical education office. Please do not ask your teacher to hold items for you in class.
Locks are to be turned in at the end of the year. There will be a charge of $5.00 for any lock not turned in.
Take Responsibility For Your Belongings
What If You Have A Medical Excuse
A parent or guardian note will excuse the student for one week of physical education class. If it is necessary to miss more than one week of class, a note from your doctor is required.
Physical limitation need to be covered by doctor's note which will be kept on file.
If you are excused from physical class for illness or injury, you may not participate in the co-curricular athletic program that day.
If you are unable to participate in swimming due to a medical reason a doctor's note should be given to your physical education teacher before the unit starts, With a doctor's excuse an alternate activity can be assigned by the physical education department.
ANY STUDENT WHO MISSES MORE THAN 50% OF A UNIT WITHOUT A DOCTOR'S NOTE WILL RECEIVE AN UNSATISFACTORY GRADE FOR THE MARKING PERIOD.
How Will I BE EVALUATED?
Your physical education grade will be determined from the following
areas:
Preparation -dressed for class activities
Participation -effort and attitude during class activities
Students may earn up to 10 point per class period, Points will be
deducted for the following:
5pts-socks missing
10pts-Inappropriate citizenship
5pts-Shirt/Shorts missing 10ptsUnprepared
for participation
5pts-Lateness
5pts for gum chewing
The Wearing Of Jewelry
Due to the threat that this practice poses to student safety, the Physical Education Department can not permit the wearing of jewelry articles during a physical education lesson. Students reporting to class wearing rings, watches, necklaces, earrings, body rings, etc. will be asked to remove such items before they are allowed to participate. A REFUSAL WILL RESULT IN AN UNPREPARED
Your marking period grade will be established by the
following:
O ---
Good 100% -85% of total possible points
S---Satisfactory-84%-65% of total possible points
U---Unsatisfactory-64%-0% of total possible points
Unexcused absence policy/unprepared policy
First Offense --Student will receive warning teacher and lose ten points
from grade
Second Offense--Student will receive warning, lose ten points from
grade/parents or guardian will be contacted.
Third Offense--Student will receive warning, lose ten points, referred to
the appropriate school
administrator who will send notice to parents that the next offense will
result in
automatic failure for the marking period.
Fourth Offense--Failure for the marking period
